IDDS Discipline Policy

Our underlying philosophy is that discipline is a
learning experience, not just a punishment:
Discipline should:

  • be designed to help the student control and change his/her behavior,
thereby guiding the student into adulthood.
  •  help the student to grow intellectually and emotionally.
  •  enhance the student’s self-confidence and self-image

Below are a listing of behaviors and the range of possible consequences.
This provides for differentiated responses to initial, infrequent or minor
infractions versus repeated or serious violations. This also accommodates
the differences in the ages of our students (grades K-12).  The range of
possible consequences includes, but is not limited to, student conference,
mediation, parent contact, lunch or afterschool detention, verbal warning,
restitution, suspension, police referral, recommendation for expulsion.
If you would like more information, please contact the school office.
